What it does
The jaws are wide and flat like a seamer. They grip the edge of sheet metal across about three inches, so you can fold a hem or hold a duct seam while you fasten it.
The broad face spreads the pressure, so thin stock does not dent.
It is a step in one of our job rows: Hold it while you weld.
Good to know before you buy
- Flat jaws slip on round stock. Use the straight-jaw pliers there.
- Sheet metal up to light gauge. It is not a brake.
- Grip near the fold line. Thin sheet flexes if you hold it far from the bend.
