What it does

A deeper throat and a wider opening than the 6 inch. It clamps a workpiece to the edge of a bench or holds two plates for a tack weld.

Swivel pads, an adjusting screw and a quick-release lever, in nickel-finished carbon steel.

It is a step in one of our job rows: Hold it while you weld.

Good to know before you buy

• The pads spread the load but they are steel. Protect a finished surface.
• It is no substitute for a welding clamp on round stock.
• Set the screw before you lock. Forcing the handles shut strains the pads.
