How to pick

  • Measure the outside diameter of the largest pipe on the job and buy the cutter above it.
  • For 1/2 and 3/4 inch pipe a small cutter is faster. A big jaw on small pipe is clumsy.
  • If you cut all day, the 18V cutters save your grip. For ten cuts they are more tool than you need.

Good to know before you buy

  • These cutters are for plastic pipe and hose. They do not cut copper, steel or conduit.
  • Cold PVC can crack under a blade. Warm it or use a saw in freezing weather.
  • A ratchet cutter follows its first bite. Start square.
